As part of the larger Otipemisiwak Métis Government, St. Albert Métis District is dedicated to preserving and promoting Métis culture, heritage, and rights. The St. Albert Métis District plays a crucial role in advocating for the socio-economic well-being of its members, offering various programs, resources, and educational opportunities. Through community initiatives, cultural events, and engagement with local and provincial governments, St. Albert Métis District works tirelessly to strengthen the Métis identity and ensure the voices of Métis people are heard and respected.

Otipemisiwak Métis Government Priorities

Governance: To strengthen our capacity in governance, strategic legislative and policy coordination, business plan development, and horizontal/vertical communication between the President’s Office, the Executive, Citizens’ Council, and administration.

Relationship: To participate in bilateral/multilateral processes of policy development with different orders of government and to coordinate and develop our governance policies through multi-disciplined and researched approaches to strategic analysis and action.

Partnership: To establish, promote, and support public and private sector partnerships that will improve the economic circumstances of Métis people.

People: To establish, promote, and support initiatives that will improve the quality of life of Métis people.
